The Association for all Cricket Umpires and Scorers based in Warwickshire
I have published a report regarding appointments for the last two seasons on behalf of the Association so this is a summary of the main activities for the 2011 season.
First, I would like to extend my thanks to all umpires who stood in the games, especially those that I contacted very late due to new matches being advised or where appointed umpires withdrew from the game.
Second, I would like to extend my thanks to John Bates, John Davidson and Eddie Boileau who provided great assistance in the initial appointments back in March as well as David Paxton who looked after "the shop" whilst I was away on holiday at the end of the season.
I am aware, as was the case last season, that some umpires attended grounds only to find that their game had been cancelled and no notification given. I think that all umpires were eventually paid their fee but I do understand your frustration in making the effort to attend grounds and find that the coach/manger has not seem fit to advise you of the cancellation. I will try again next year to avoid this sort of situation happening again!
The Association has provided umpires for games organised by Warwickshire Cricket Board for both male and female County squads from under 9’s to over 50’s, including "B" squad games, 2 Cricket Festivals and for various District Boards. In addition, the Association has provided umpires for 4 Universities, Schools, ECB as well as U15 Premier and Championship Leagues, the Bill Lloyd U17 League and various club finals.
Overall, 84 different umpires were appointed for 366 fixtures (slightly down on the previous season) involving 551 "umpires placements" which includes 18 umpires per day for the May Cricket Festival held over 4 days and 6 umpires per day for the August U9 Festival held over two days. From the original list of appointed umpires made, 64 alterations were subsequently made, which is a considerable improvement on the previous season.
