Winter Courses for Umpires and Scorers

We will be running an extended range of training courses over the winter for both scorers and umpires. We are now collecting names of those who wish to attend.

Level 1 Umpires Course
This is the first step in the newly established ECB ACO pathway to becoming an Elite Panel Umpire!
The course will be starting on Saturday morning, 23rd January 2010 & also run in parallel on a Monday evening, starting on 25th January 2010, running for ten weeks with the exam in week 10 (which is optional).

Because of the refurbishment of Edgbaston, the sessions will take place in the Press Box stand. Times and exact details to follow

In addition, we are also running a Level 1 course in Coventry, which will either run on a Saturday morning or Monday evening (depending on demand), and will start on the same date as the Birmingham course (i.e. either 23rd or 25th January 2010) and will be held at the Standard Social Club. 

The cost of the course will be £30, which will include a copy of the Laws of Cricket, a learning pack including the MCC Open Learning Manual, and also one years subscription to the WCU&SA.

Level 2 Umpires Course

For those of you already qualified to Level 1, the next step on the ladder is the Level 2 course.

Whilst the Association will not be running its own course until 2011, it will be co-ordinating candidates for the courses being run locally by the ECB ACO this winter.

Pre-Season Refresher Course

Due to popular demand, we will be running a 'pre-season' refresher course for experienced (and not so experienced) umpires.

Running over two or three evenings towards the beginning of the season, we will run through several key laws, to act as a refresher prior to the season getting underway. This course has proven to be very popular in the past when run for the Umpires on the Warwickshire League panel, and will be ideal preparation for the season, as well as a chance to meet up with colleagues after the winter break.

Details to be confirmed shortly, and will be displayed on the web site, however, costs will be a 'token' £5 per head.

Level 1 Scorers Course

For the first time, we will be running a level 1 Scorers course this winter. Again, this is the first step on the ECB ACO pathway and passing the optional exam will result in a recognised scorers qualification.

The course will be held at Edgbaston, with dates, times, costs etc to be confirmed, depending upon demand, but the course fee will include all necessary course materials and a 12 month subscription to the Association.
